There aren't any "AI" systems, luckily. "yeah right boomer" is an ignorant comment, and shows that this "boomer" knows so much more than you do. If an actual "AI" system is created, this world is doomed, most likely. Ever seen "The Matrix"?

We uplift the hamster... that is just prototypical confirmation bias. It would be at least as fair to say that when humans were not as intelligent and powerful we killed a few pigs but ate a lot of fish nuts berries and now that we are far more advanced we killed many many fold pigs. I am generally an optimist but much of this video was just filled with looking at the glass half full and making sweeping conclusions.

"The only option is to guide it" yes, but if you say the existential risk is 1/1000 then the energy put into guiding it will be much less than if we recognize that the actually risk is much higher

They’ve made us disconnected from each other (think the family at the restaurant all starring at their phones) and turned our brains into dopamine addicted monkey minds with the attention spans of a squirrel.

Social media and big media is misleading and corrupted and biased and they omit already. If we can’t fight for democracy at home, why are we focusing fighting democracy against foreign countries? We lose democracy at home by the day and what will we have left to defend? The first legal documents that don’t even claim black people and women as persons and citizens? This is a waste of time.

Wonderful session. Thanks, Peter and Eric. I find that most people who fear a future with AI are fearful of AI unintended consequences of its deployment and application. Are there AI projects that can understand and describe unintended consequences of different AI applications? Seems to me that the exploration and description of unintended consequences, while never perfect, is right up AI’s alley.
